LONDON, June 7. /TASS/. The United Kingdom is set to "make all the representations" regarding a possible death verdict, which the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) may pass to its two citizens accused of participating in the Donbass hostilities on Ukraine’s side, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice Dominic Raab told the LBC radio on Tuesday.
"In relation to that case, I don't know all the details, but of course we would expect the laws of armed conflict to be respected, and we will make sure that we will make all the representations," he said. "I know the Foreign Office will be looking at making sure all those representations are made."
UK citizens Aiden Aslin and Shaun Pinner, as well as Morocco citizen Saadun Brahim, testified before the DPR Supreme Court on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses were also interviewed.
The court started hearing their cases on merits on Monday. On June 4, the DPR Prosecutor General's Office declared that it had been through with the investigation of criminal cases against Pinner, Aslin and Brahim. The PGO’s spokesman said the defendants might face the death penalty. Investigation exposed these foreigners’ complicity in crimes as defined under part 2 of article 34 (crimes by a group of persons), article 323 (forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power) and article 430 (mercenarism) of the DPR Criminal Code.
