US seeks to drown Russia in war in Ukraine, Belarusian president says

According to Alexander Lukashenko, it is the West that is currently ruling Ukraine instead of President Vladimir Zelensky

MINSK, May 5. /TASS/. The United States seeks to drown Russia in the war in Ukraine, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with The Associated Press.

"What we see now is that the United States seeks to take advantage of the situation, tying allies closer to itself and trying to drown Russia in the war in Ukraine," said Lukashenko, according to a part of the interview released by the BelTA news agency. "This is the goal: to sort out Russia, then China," he added.

According to Lukashenko, it is the West that is currently ruling Ukraine instead of President Vladimir Zelensky. "Why isn’t Ukraine interested in talks when a war is actually underway on its territory, military activities are taking place, people are being killed?" he said. "The answer to this question can be found in Washington," the Belarusian president noted.
