US won’t allow Russia to use oil and gas to circumvent sanctions, Biden claims

Washington is working with other countries to help its European allies, the US President underscored

WASHINGTON, April 28. /TASS/. The US will not allow a situation, in which Russia could use its energy to circumvent sanctions, imposed by the West, US President Joe Biden said in the White House Thursday.

He commented on the situation around Russia’s shutdown of gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland.

"These actions prove that energy is not just a commodity that Russia sells to help to meet other countries’ needs, but a weapon, [which Russia uses] against those who stand against her aggression. Let me be clear: we will not let Russia to intimidate or blackmail her way out of these sanctions. <…> We are working with other nations, like [South] Korea, Japan, Qatar and others to support our effort to help our European allies, threatened by Russia with gas blackmail and their energy needs in other ways," the head of state claimed.
