India registers over 14,500 coronavirus cases in 24 hours

As many as 188,688 coronavirus patients are being treated

NEW DELHI, January 22. /TASS/. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India increased by 14,545 over the past 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 10,625,428, the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported on its website on Friday.

The number of recoveries rose by 18,002 in the past day to 10,283,708.

As many as 188,688 coronavirus patients are being treated. The number of active COVID-19 cases has been less than 200,000 for the third consecutive day, the ministry said. At the end of last year, it exceeded 250,000.

The number of coronavirus-related fatalities went up by 163 in 24 hours to 153,032. India ranks the second in the world in terms of the number coronavirus cases (after the US) and the third in terms of the death toll (after the US and Brazil).
