Ambassador: Qatar, Russia share principle of non-intervention into other states' affairs

"As time passes, this principle needs to be strengthened," Fahd Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah said

ST. PETERSBURG, November 15. /TASS/. Qatar and Russia have a similar stance on many global issues, and they share the principle of non-intervention into the affairs of other countries, Qatari Ambassador to Russia Fahd Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah stated during the press conference "Qatar - Guest Country" within the framework of the seventh St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

"Both our nations are going through certain circumstances. Qatar is under a blockade as we speak. And we share the principle of non-intervention to the internal affairs of other nations, and we strongly hold that value along with our Russian friends," the ambassador said.

"We would like to highlight that as time passes, this principle needs to be strengthened. And we need to have greater collaboration in order to ensure that such aggressions by other countries, moves to interfere our way of life need to be stopped at once," the diplomat noted.

The Qatari ambassador also noted that in recent years, the cooperation between Russia and Qatar has grown substantially in all spheres, namely in the sphere of economy, politics and culture. He also reminded that the year 2018 is marked as the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture, during which both countries have held dozens of cultural events.

 

About the forum

 

The seventh St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum takes place on November 15-17. The forum includes a business program and a festival part, aimed at local residents and tourists. The business part of the forum is divided into 14 sections dedicated to museums, theaters, cinema, circus, literature, tourism, folk art, preservation of cultural heritage and other spheres.

This year, Qatar and Italy have received the status of honored guests of the forum. In total, guests from Russia and 101 foreign countries will participate in the forum.
