The Akademik Fedorov scientific diesel-electric research vessel, which participates in the work of the Russian Antarctic Expedition, has met Fyodor Konyukhov's rowing boat in the South Atlantic. After the storm, the traveler will continue his 200-day voyage from South America to Australia, the ship's crew reported.
"Fyodor Konyukhov is in good health. He told the captain of the ship that he intends to continue the journey across the South Atlantic and the Indian Ocean to Australia. He thanked the crew of the Akademik Fedorov research vessel for moral support and wishes for successful completion of the expedition. He was very pleased to hear the Russian language for the first time in 63 days of sailing," the headquarters of the Russian Antarctic Expedition said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
About expedition
According to the traveler himself, he will have to cover a distance of 18,000 kilometers in 200 days. For this purpose it is necessary to row 15 hours a day. The passage to Australia will be the second stage of the circumnavigation in the Southern Ocean, the first part of which Konyukhov passed in 2018-2019. He then sailed 11,000 kilometers in 153 days.
