FSB points to rise in cyberattacks on Russian infrastructure after launch of special op

The number of cyberattacks on Russian information infrastructure facilities has increased dramatically

MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. The number of cyber attacks on Russian infrastructure has increased significantly since the start of Moscow’s special military operation, Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) National Coordination Center for Cyber Incidents Nikolay Murashov said.

"The special military operation in Ukraine had a significant impact on Russia's cyberspace in 2022," he said, addressing the plenary session of the InfoForum 2023 event.

"The number of cyberattacks on Russian information infrastructure facilities has increased dramatically. In addition, threats are now materializing quicker as no more than a few hours usually pass between reports of the threat and its practical implementation," Murashov noted.

According to him, "a cyber campaign unprecedented in scale" is being waged against Russia, which is mostly aimed at disabling information infrastructure and gaining unauthorized access to the information systems of various agencies and organizations.
