Moscow International Film Festival to take place in April

It is reported that the organizers are now accepting applications from those wishing to participate in the 45th Festival.

MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. The 45th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held from April 20 to 27 this year.

The festival’s organizers have also opened the application process for the competitive and non-competitive programs, the event press service said on Tuesday.

"The Moscow International Film Festival will be held this year between April 20 and 27," the press service said. The organizers are now accepting applications from those wishing to participate in the 45th Festival.

The application process has begun for the main competition, the contest for documentary and short films, as well as the contest "Russian Premiers" - a national program, which was introduced last year. In addition, applications can be submitted for non-competitive programs, including animated films and series. Films, which were completed by May 1, 2022, are accepted for participation. Applications can be submitted on the MIFF’s official website.

The Moscow Film Festival was first held in 1935. In 1995, it was announced that the festival would become an annual event, but it did not take place in 1996 and 1998. Since 1999, the MIFF has been held every year. Up to 2017, it was held at the end of June, starting in 2018 it was held in mid-April, and in 2022 the festival took place from August 26 to September 2. The festival’s president is director Nikita Mikhalkov.
