British, Moroccan mercenaries can ask for pardon — Donetsk court

Earlier reports said that the foreign mercenaries would appeal the sentence

DONETSK, June 9. /TASS/. The two British citizens, Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin, and also Moroccan Saadun Brahim, who have been found guilty of participating in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian forces in the capacity of mercenaries and sentenced to death have the right to ask for pardon, the presiding judge said after the verdict was read out.

Earlier reports said that the foreign mercenaries would appeal the sentence.

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on Thursday sentenced to death two British nationals, Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as Moroccan Saadoun Brahim for participating in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces in the capacity of mercenaries.

The Prosecutor General's Office earlier said that the defendants’ testimony confirmed their complicity in crimes as defined in part 2 of article 34 (crimes committed by a group of persons), article 323 (forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power) and article 430 (mercenarism) of the DPR Criminal Code.
