MOSCOW, May 23./TASS/. The proportion of the Delta strain of coronavirus may grow in Russia if the immunity to it gets weaker, Russian sanitary watchdog chief Anna Popova told TASS on Sunday.

"It is possible," she said in reply to the question.

According to Popova, the density of immunity in Russia is sufficient so far for this variant not to develop.

According to data of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing as of May 17, the Omicron strain accounts for 99.24% of coronavirus cases in Russia, while the share of the Delta strain is 0.3%
