MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. The first two working weeks of May will be short and weekends will be long in connection with the celebration of Spring and Labor Day on May 1 and Victory Day on May 9, the weekends will be from April 30 to May 3 and from May 7 to 10, the press service of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment (Rostrud) told reporters.
"In early May, Russians will have two short workweeks and long weekends in connection with the celebration of Spring and Labor Day on May 1 and Victory Day on May 9. These dates are public holidays," the service said.
The agency recalled that public holidays cannot become a reason to reduce wages of employees on a salary. "And employees who do not receive a salary, for public holidays, in which they were not involved in the work, are paid extra compensation, the amount of which is established by the collective agreement or a local normative act," Rostrud said.
Russians will have the next long weekend from June 11 to 13 in connection with the celebration of the Russia Day.
