Almost 590 foreign citizens evacuated from Kiev, Mariupol, Kharkov — Defense Ministry

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. "Silence regimes" and the establishment of humanitarian corridors allowed 588 foreign citizens to be evacuated from Ukraine’s dangerous areas, head of the Russian National Center for Defense Management, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev said on Thursday.

"Thanks to the effective measures undertaken, including the provision of security by the Russian Armed Forces, the establishment of humanitarian corridors and the introduction of "silence regimes" for the use of any weapons and activities of troops, 588 foreign citizens have been able to recently withdraw from dangerous areas," Mizintsev noted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the leaders of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian head of state stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops were not delivering strikes against Ukrainian cities. It emphasized that Ukrainian military infrastructure was being destroyed through the use of precision weapons. Civilians are not threatened, the Russian military assured.
