MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. More than 10,000 tourists from Russia are presently in Caribbean countries, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, and Director of the Tourist Assistance association Alexander Osaulenko announced during a press conference.
"Today, we have quite a large number of [citizens] still in the Caribbean, there are about a little more than 10,000 tourists there," Osaulenko said.
A week ago, the number of Russian citizens who are abroad was about 150,000 people. About 10% of them are on organized tours. During this time, a large number of citizens have returned to Russia via third countries. As for Russians who are in European countries, humanitarian corridors for their departure have not yet been established, Osaulenko said.
"Therefore, a very large number of tour operators have decided to send their tourists independently through third countries, and this process is now underway," he said.
According to him, all issues concerning the return of organized tourists to Russia will be resolved within five to seven days.
