Hainan holds large-scale tourism, food products and shopping festival

HAIKOU, November 17. /TASS/. The Hainan Tourism, Food and Shopping Festival with the participation of all Hainan cities and counties kicked off with a large-scale promotion of various goods on November 13 in Haikou at the Mova Plaza shopping center. The event will be the largest shopping-related event in the province this year, according to www.hinews.cn.

The festival, the news outlet notes, creates an atmosphere of a shopping festival in the province, and also contributes to the implementation of a project to turn Hainan into an international center for tourism and consumption. The main emphasis during online and offline promotions is placed on events to promote duty free goods, cars, offers in the field of catering, household appliances and various electronics.

The organizers managed to attract a large number of participants to the festival, which, according to the news outlet, should bring the volume of retail sales of consumer goods in the province to about 200 billion yuan (over $ 30 billion) by the end of 2020.

By 2025, the Chinese government intends to create an "international center for tourism and consumption" on Hainan. In order to do so, the "Eastern Hawaii" with their unique natural landscapes, thick rainforests and great climate will establish a developed network of hotels, which blend perfectly with white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline. The combination of an exotic subtropical nature and a modern eco-friendly infrastructure will boost tourist inflow to the island from the most distant parts of the world.
