MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. Head of NASA Bill Nelson called on the world to join the US in its rejection of testing of anti-satellite weapons. His statement was published on the NASA website.
"There is no doubt that human spaceflight and the future of the space environment are incompatible with destructive direct-ascent ASAT missile tests. Vice President Harris and the Biden Administration’s leadership to address these threats and reduce risk is an important step forward to foster a safe, sustainable space environment - now and into the future. I encourage the world to join us in making this important commitment," Nelson said.
On Monday, US Vice President Kamala Harris announced that the US vow not to test anti-satellite weapons and called on other countries to join Washington. According to Harris, the US will try to make it a new "norm of responsible behavior in space".
