NATO’s ideas about 'decolonizing' Russia still present in its public discourse — Lavrov

The Russian foreign minister expressed concern over the West's continued use of "the same methods of self-superiority that have been repeatedly employed in Europe"

PERM, May 22. /TASS/. The North Atlantic Alliance once entertained notions of "decolonizing" Russia, a concept that continues to circulate within its public domain, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov remarked during a meeting of the United Russia party's General Council Committee on International Cooperation and Support for Compatriots Abroad.

"Despite our repeated warnings over the years, NATO has persisted in integrating Ukraine with the aim to create problems for our nation’s very existence and to serve as a launching pad for threats along our borders," Lavrov stated. "There has also been talk of 'decolonizing' Russia itself, as they put it. These ideas are still evident in public discourse."

Lavrov expressed concern over the West's continued use of "the same methods of self-superiority that have been repeatedly employed in Europe."

"To be more precise," he added, "it is the deployment of both the ideology and practices reminiscent of Nazism against our country, all in service of Western ambitions."
