Top Russian human rights defender reveals real reason behind conflict with West

"They fear that the world will not be organized by their rules but by competing principles," Valery Fadeyev pointed out

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. The real reason behind Moscow’s conflict with Western countries is that the West fears the new fair world order that Russia promotes, Valery Fadeyev, head of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, said.

"What they [Western countries] know about us is that we are a strong historical force and a historical alternative. They fear that the world will not be organized by their rules but by competing principles," he pointed out at a roundtable dubbed "United Europe Opposing Russia in 1941 and 2025. The 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory in the Current Foreign Policy Situation," hosted by the Federation Council (the upper house of parliament).

"The alternative is what they are afraid of. According to their logic, those who offer a different vision of the world order and fair life must be destroyed. In my view, this is the real reason behind the current standoff," Fadeyev asserted.

He added that the Russian people were at the forefront of history, ensuring historical progress, while the world was currently going through "the final stage of the Western social and cultural system." "The one who offers something new will become one of the leaders, which is what the Soviet Union did in the past," Fadeyev concluded.
