HARARE, March 26. /TASS/. Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Mahamoud Ali Youssouf has reaffirmed during his meeting with Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, envoy to the AU Yevgeny Terekhin the organization’s policy toward close cooperation with Russia, also publishing a statement on X.

"Chairperson of the AU Commission, received H.E. Mr. Evgeny E. Terekhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ethiopia," the statement said. "Ambassador Terekhin conveyed a message of goodwill from his government and congratulated the Chairperson on his election. Their discussions reaffirmed the [policy toward] strong partnership between the AU Commission and Russia, emphasising cooperation on African-led peace and security initiatives, public health, economic collaboration, and agricultural development. They also underscored the importance of sustained high-level engagements to identify and advance areas of mutual interest."
