MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. The West seems wholly unconcerned about the safety of the IAEA's international personnel, Russian envoy Mikhail Ulyanov stated.
At a press conference, he recalled how Ukrainian forces targeted IAEA staff in an attack that derailed the planned February rotation at the Zaporozhye NPP.
"Despite the fact that all this is documented, Western partners tried to pretend that there was some kind of fighting there, although in fact it was a unilateral attack by the Ukrainian side. Earlier, I noted that our Western partners view nuclear safety issues to be of secondary and tertiary importance compared to the need to provide political support to Ukraine and cover up its atrocities. Now, as it turns out, our Western opponents don't even seem to care about the safety of international personnel," Ulyanov emphasized. "They willingly turn a blind eye to attacks against international officials," the permanent representative stated.
At the same time, Ulyanov noted the "fatigue" that exists inside the IAEA with regard to the Ukrainian situation. "The Ukrainians were going to introduce another anti-Russian resolution, they did not find due support; everyone is a little tired of the Ukrainian topic," he said, summarizing the results of the March session of the IAEA Board of Governors.
