Russian assault teams seize key Ukrainian stronghold near Kurakhovo in Donbass region

The Russian servicemen stealthily approached the enemy stronghold and engaged in a close small arms combat

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Assault teams of Russia’s Battlegroup South seized a key Ukrainian army stronghold in the Kurakhovo frontline area in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), eliminating 28 enemy FPV drones in a small arms battle, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.

"In the Kurakhovo direction of the special military operation, assault teams of the 242nd Guards Motor Rifle Regiment, the 8th Army of the Battlegroup South have seized a major Ukrainian army stronghold while providing for the advance of our units," the ministry said in a statement.

The Russian servicemen stealthily approached the enemy stronghold and engaged in a close small arms combat, it specified.

"The militants barricaded themselves in a dugout and responded by small arms fire to the calls to surrender. They delivered dense mortar fire on the Russian assault teams and dropped explosives from FPV drones. However, this did not prevent the Russian troops from seizing the stronghold," the ministry said.
