LUGANSK, February 7. /TASS/. Russian forces have secured the bulk of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) under their control, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.

"During an intense combat operation in the town of Chasov Yar, Russian forces took the bulk of it under control as they consolidate their successes," Marochko said, adding that a stadium and a hospital in the center of the town have been captured by Russia. "Assault units have secured a foothold at more advantageous positions on higher altitudes. Three Western neighborhoods have been completely freed, and Russian forces have also advanced through most of the northern sector of the town," he shared.

According to Marochko, Russian fighters now have several sectors of motor roads in southern Chasov Yar, including river crossings set up by Ukrainian troops across the Gruzskaya, under control. Also, Russian forces have already been "operating" in the Shevchenko neighborhood, he stated.
