MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army’s missile strike on a boarding school in the town of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk Region was a despicable act of provocation staged by the Kiev regime, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier that the Ukrainian armed forces had committed a war crime by conducting a missile strike on a boarding school in Sudzha. Russian air defenses detected that missiles had been launched toward Sudzha from Ukraine’s Sumy Region.
"You must have had the opportunity to read the Russian Defense Ministry’s statements; we have nothing to add. It was a heinous provocation by the Kiev regime," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.
After the strike, Russian investigators opened a probe into Rostislav Karpusha, commander of the 19th Separate Missile Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces. According to investigators, on February 1, Karpusha ordered his troops to carry out a missile attack on the boarding school where civilians were taking shelter. The strike caused fatalities and casualties, but Ukraine did not reveal their number.
