Diplomat slams G7 foreign ministers' anti-Russia statements as worthless

According to Maria Zakharova, the final document of the meeting contains unfounded accusations and claims against Russia

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. The anti-Russian statements of the G7 countries, which were adopted following a meeting of the association's foreign ministers, are worthless, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"There was information in the media about the November 25-26 meeting of the foreign ministers of the so-called G7 in the Italian city of Fiuggi. Among the topics discussed were issues that directly affect our foreign policy interests. As expected, the representatives of the once most industrially developed group of countries gathered in Italy did not declare anything fundamentally new with regard to Russia," she said.

According to the diplomat, the final document of the meeting contains unfounded accusations and claims against Russia. Zakharova also stressed that the G7 representatives criticized Russia's friends: China, North Korea, Belarus, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Venezuela.

The diplomat added that "it has long been clear to politicians and observers who are not detached from reality that the future is not for the G7, <...> but for other formats of international communication that reflect the diversity of the emerging multipolar world."

Zakharova emphasized that the joint statement of the G7 foreign ministers is worthless. "Its validity is actually limited to the period of the outgoing US administration. Obviously, the statements in Fiuggi are the swan song of the team of [US President Joe] Biden and [US Secretary of State Antony] Blinken. This is how it should be treated," she concluded.
