Russian MFA slams West for trying to militarize Armenia against Russia

According to Maria Zakharova, leaders of the NATO alliance are "whipping up anti-Russian hysteria and calling for preparations for a military conflict" with Russia

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Western countries are urging Armenia to invest in the defense industry to prepare for confrontation with Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"The EU's mission in Armenia through the efforts of the West is turning into a NATO mission," she said at a news conference. "They [the West] are urging Armenia to invest in the defense industry."

According to Zakharova, leaders of the NATO alliance are "whipping up anti-Russian hysteria and calling for preparations for a military conflict" with Russia, as they push Yerevan to inject huge amounts of money into the defense industry amid obvious economic problems in Europe.

"Those who were able to block out this faulty message, which was used as a ploy to destroy statehood, society and economy, those countries survived. Those who were unable to do so or did not want to, such as Ukraine, have collapsed," the spokeswoman said.
