CAR needs Russia’s assistance in restoring agriculture — Russian ambassador

According to Alexander Bikantov, the Central African Republic has significant potential in the field of agriculture, but "decades of bloody civil conflicts have almost completely destroyed this industry"

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Bangui is interested in Moscow's assistance in restoring the agricultural industry in the Central African Republic (CAR), Russian Ambassador to the Republic Alexander Bikantov said in an interview with TASS.

When asked if the republic intends to purchase the equipment and fertilizers from Russia in order to fully meet the country’s food needs, the diplomat replied:

"Bangui is interested in Moscow’s assistance in restoring agriculture. This sector is considered one of the key sectors in economic cooperation."

According to him, the Central African Republic has significant potential in the field of agriculture, but "decades of bloody civil conflicts have almost completely destroyed this industry."

Bikantov also said that due to the budgetary difficulties that the republic is experiencing, "it is necessary to develop flexible payment arrangements for the supply of domestic agricultural equipment."
