UNITED NATIONS, March 13. /TASS/. The world community is currently caught up in the worst crisis in recent decades, Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Anna Evstigneeva said.
"Even though the planet has so far been steered clear of another large-scale war, the world is facing the worst crisis in decades. Its symptoms are the erosion of international security, the loss of trust among key players and the escalation of conflict around the globe. To a great extent, the unfolding processes are manifestations of the breakdown of the unipolar world system, which needs to be replaced by a new world order. What it will be depends on us," she said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Additionally, Evstigneeva pointed out that while participating in humanitarian missions, the Western donors frequently push for the implementation of their own interests rather than the interests of a country in need.
"We proceed from the fact that nobody can tell sovereign government how to build their own states and prevent conflicts, how much percent of women to include in political processes and how to arrange the legal system. This approach is a remnant of the colonial past and cannot be at the heart of genuinely effective preventive efforts," she said.
"We are convinced that the role of the UN and the international community in general is to support the nations that on their own determine the strategy for responding to security challenges within national borders and shoulder primary responsibility for this," Evstigneeva said.
