Ukraine crisis may spill over into Europe due to Western actions — MFA

According to Maria Zakharova, "it is necessary to stop supporting Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s regime and sending weapons" to prevent further escalation

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine may take on a European scale owing to the West’s moves, but stopping arms deliveries to Kiev will prevent further escalation, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during a briefing.

"As a result of reckless, inflammatory actions of even one or two member states of the European Union and NATO, the Ukraine crisis can absolutely easily go beyond its geographical limits, acquire a completely different scale, and spiral out of control," the diplomat said when asked by Western reporters about the risks of the Ukraine crisis spilling over.

According to Zakharova, "it is necessary to stop supporting [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky’s regime and sending weapons" in order to prevent further escalation.

"[They need] to abandon plans to inflict a strategic defeat on anyone, abandon plans to wage the war to the last Ukrainian, and perhaps, they all should simply feel pity for Ukraine," she said.

Zakharova pointed out that the West "will have to learn to take into account not only its own geopolitical ambitions, but also the legitimate interests of other countries."

"I am perfectly well aware that this will cause literal teeth grinding, but this will have to be done somehow, and the sooner it happens, the fewer people will die, and the fewer people will, in principle, suffer," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
