Russian foreign ministry presents demarche to German ambassador

"The German diplomat was also told that the continued attempts by Germany’s authorities to restrict the activity of Russian journalists in Germany were unacceptable," the ministry said

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The Russian foreign ministry has delivered a demarche to German Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Graf Lambsdorff and demanded explanations following a conversation between Bundeswehr officers about attacks on the Crimean Bridge.

"In the course of the demarche on March 4, the Russian foreign ministry demanded that German Ambassador Graf Lambsdorff provide explanations concerning the German top brass’ conversation about potential supplies of Taurus cruise missiles to the Kiev regime and practical assistance to the Ukrainian army in their combat use against targets in Russia, which vividly points to the collective West’s involvement into the conflict around Ukraine," it said.

"The German diplomat was also told that the continued attempts by Germany’s authorities to restrict the activity of Russian journalists in Germany were unacceptable. It was emphasized that such actions would not be left without our harsh response," the ministry said.

The ambassador, who was summoned to the Russian foreign ministry on Monday, left the ministry without comments.

The RT broadcaster’s editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said on March 1 that on the very day when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed that NATO was not participating and would not participate in the Ukrainian conflict, high-ranking German officers were discussing the possibility of attacking the Crimean Bridge in a way that would help avoid consequences for the German authorities. Simonyan said there was an audio recording of this conversation and later released the transcript of the leaked conversation, which indicates that the officers were discussing how much destruction Germany’s Taurus long-range missiles could cause to the Crimean Bridge as well as details of preparations for such an attack.
