US tries to preserve world dominance, but its power is declining — Medvedev

The politician also noted that European countries will not be able to overcome their reliance on Washington in the near future

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. Washington continues to seek global dominance, but its power is declining, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media, including TASS.

He recalled the situation at the US-Mexico border, as well as the confrontation between Washington and Texas authorities over migration policy.

"This is a very vivid example that emphasizes the depth of the differences. They are linked to the fact that the United States is attempting, despite its dwindling strength, to play first violin in the international arena," Medvedev said.

At the same time he noted that European countries will not be able to overcome their reliance on Washington in the near future. "I feel this will not happen in the coming years," he said in response to the question of when Europe will stop paying attention to and serving as the United States' satellite.

According to Medvedev, there are several reasons for it, including the fact that "the US took advantage of Europe's weakness." "[They] have taken a number of economic spheres from them and are fully ensuring their security, that is, the Europeans are marching in formation on the orders of the United States," he said.
