MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of Russia and Egypt Sergey Lavrov and Sameh Shoukry discussed the situation at the Middle East with an emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the necessity to establish a Palestinian state, the Russian Foreign Minister said in a statement following the G20 ministerial meeting in Rio de Janeiro.
"The foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged their opinions on the most relevant aspects of the situation in the Middle East with an emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip," the Ministry said.
The two ministers "underscored the need for a prompt consolidation of international efforts in the interest of a fair settlement upon a universally recognized basis, which implies the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with a capital in East Jerusalem, coexisting in peace and security with Israel."
