ISTANBUL, December 22. /TASS/. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov have discussed the Azerbaijan-Armenia settlement during a telephone conversation, the TRT Haber TV channel reported, citing diplomatic sources.
"Minister Fidan stressed the importance of concluding a peace treaty as soon as possible," the TV channel quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying.
Russia had earlier proposed to organize another round of negotiations on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future. Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that Russia had sent invitations to all CIS leaders to an informal summit in St. Petersburg on December 25-26. At the same time, he refrained from predicting the prospects of a possible trilateral meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the CIS summit to discuss the signing of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan.
