US’ pressure on Serbia unlikely to end even if it imposes sanctions on Russia — diplomat

She recalled that earlier in the day Serbian Minister of Economy Rade Basta said that the country should join the sanction policy against Russia and called on other ministers to speak up on this matter

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Washington will not ease its pressure on Belgrade even if it imposes sanctions against Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Monday.

She recalled that earlier in the day Serbian Minister of Economy Rade Basta said that the country should join the sanction policy against Russia and called on other ministers to speak up on this matter.

"This position looks quite strange: the pressure on Serbia is exerted by America but the Serbian minister calls for taking a stand against Russia. Maybe, the Serbian minister should better speak up resolutely against the pressure on his country. Russia, unlike the United States, has always respected Serbia and its people. And it is explained not only by the historic truth but from an obvious fact: even if Serbia imposes sanctions against Russia, the United States’ pressure will not end but will only grow," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
