UNITED NATIONS, February 9. /TASS/. Russia will continue to bring the alleged use of chemical weapons by Ukrainian troops to the attention of the international community, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said.

Commenting on Wednesday’s UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, he wrote on Telegram, "We mentioned the evidence being posted on the Internet of the use of chemical weapons by Ukrainian forces, (and we will continue to draw attention to this issue as more accurate information surfaces)."

Polyansky also commented on a speech by Roger Waters, co-founder of legendary UK rock group Pink Floyd, at the UNSC meeting. "Roger preferred to stay equidistant so as not to be accused of playing along, and decided to speak not on his own behalf, but on behalf of the ‘silent majority’ whose voices never reach the ruling circles and are therefore not heard," the Russian diplomat maintained. Waters "also said our actions in Ukraine had been prompted by the West. And the demand to stop the madness of Western defense circles who profit enormously from any war and therefore are not interested in peace, was the theme of his speech," Polyansky added.

Russia had invited Waters to address the UNSC meeting on Ukraine, which focused on how the West was prolonging the conflict by supplying weapons to Ukraine. The musician called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
