Russia’s upper house to consider address to parliaments on Bioweapons Convention on Nov 2

Konstantin Kosachev added that after both houses of parliament adopt the address, it will be sent to the intended recipients

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russia’s Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) plans to consider a draft address to the world’s parliaments about the need to strengthen the implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention at a plenary meeting on November 2, Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev, who co-chairs a parliamentary commission investigating the activities of biolabs in Ukraine, told TASS.

"The parliamentary commission has come up with an initiative calling on the two chambers of the Federal Assembly to adopt an address to the world’s parliaments about the need to strengthen compliance with the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention. It will be considered by the State Duma (the lower house) and the Federation Council in accordance with their work schedules. The Federation Council will review the document at its next meeting on November 2," the senator specified.

Kosachev added that after both houses of parliament adopt the address, it will be sent to the intended recipients.

The State Duma’s press service reported earlier that on October 27, the lower house of parliament would review a draft address to the world’s parliaments about the need to strengthen the implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction.
