Kremlin spokesman expects confrontation of West, Russia to continue after G7 summit

It is reported that G7 leaders are planning a meeting via a video link on Tuesday, where Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will take part

MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Moscow expects the upcoming Group of 20 summit to continue confrontation with Moscow, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

"We are well aware of the sentiment ahead of the summit. It’s easy to predict. The confrontation will continue," he told reporters.

When asked how Russia will react if the summit participants agree to continue arms supplies to Ukraine, Peskov said that "further arms supplies to Kiev are announced by a variety of countries and very widely."

"Of course, we will closely monitor everything," the spokesman said.

G7 leaders are planning a meeting via a video link on Tuesday, where Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will take part. UK Prime Minister Liz Truss said earlier that the G7 countries shouldn’t weaken their resolve to help Ukraine. She plans to ask her counterparts to continue the policy of sanctions on Russia. On Monday, the White House released a schedule of US President Joe Biden, which shows that the leaders of the G7 will meet to discuss support of Ukraine.

The consultations will take place following Russia's massive strike on Ukrainian energy, military command and communication facilities in response to a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge and other crimes committed by the government in Kiev. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Kiev on Monday that if Ukraine tries to perpetrate terrorist attacks in Russia, they will be met with a tough response.
