Kiev’s bipolar rhetoric on nukes approved by West, diplomat says

Maria Zakharova noted that each institution in Brussels has its own role, its own functionality, not in terms of the form of work, but precisely as far as the difference in these signals go

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. The Kiev regime's conflicting statements on its nuclear rhetoric are coordinated with the US-led West, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday in an interview with Russia’s Channel One TV.

The spokeswoman was asked whether the difference in opinions between Ukrainian politicians and Western countries on the issue of nuclear rhetoric had been coordinated in advance, she replied: "Absolutely."

"This is what it is all about. It is about playing on various media tools, which convey totally different signals in the media and the political sphere," she stressed.

Zakharova noted that "similar tactics are employed by the European Union. You see the contradictory statements that are being made. Each institution in Brussels has its own role, its own functionality, not in terms of the form of work, but precisely as far as the difference in these signals goes," she continued.

"They need to determine their public rhetoric, but they will not do it, because one of the bets they place is directed at delivering absolutely different statements to various audiences," Zakharova stated.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on NATO to deliver preemptive strikes on Russia. On Thursday, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky responded to Zelensky’s comment, saying that the Ukrainian president is dragging Western countries into nuclear rhetoric and pushing the entire world to the brink of an apocalypse.
