Russian air defenses destroy 16 HIMARS rockets in Ukraine operation, top brass reports

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 HIMARS and Olkha rockets and two US-made HARM anti-radar missiles in the past day in their special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Wednesday.

"In the past 24 hours, the air defense capabilities shot down 15 shells of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in the areas of the settlements of Korobki, Vesyoloye, Antonovka, Novaya Kakhovka, Tokarevka and Rakovka in the Kherson Region, one shell of the Olkha multiple launch rocket system near the community of Novaya Kakhovka and two HARM anti-radar missiles in the area of the settlement of Antonovka in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said.

As the general specified, "in the past 24 hours, the air defense systems destroyed six unmanned aerial vehicles in the areas of the settlements of Grakovo in the Kharkov Region, Novochervonoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Staromayorskoye, Urozhainoye and Dokuchayevsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic."

In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 313 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 157 helicopters, 2,151 unmanned aerial vehicles, 379 surface-to-air systems, 5,376 tanks and other combat armored vehicles, 861 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,449 field artillery guns and mortars and 6,277 special military motor vehicles since the beginning of their special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
