US evacuated biomonitoring staff from Ukraine after onset of special operation — top brass

It was also emphasized that this raises "additional questions" about the activities of the biomonitoring system on Ukrainian soil and its real goals

MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. The US evacuated from Ukraine local residents employed in a biomonitoring system to rule out leaks of "sensitive" information following the onset of Russia’s special military operation, Chief of Russian Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Force Igor Kirillov said on Thursday.

"After the onset of the special military operation on Ukrainian territory, the US developed and implemented a plan for evacuating the Ukrainian citizens who directly participated in ensuring the operations of a biomonitoring system in order to ‘prevent the leaks of sensitive information’," he said.

The military official emphasized that this raises "additional questions" about the activities of the biomonitoring system on Ukrainian soil and its real goals.

That said, he added that the US implements its own diagnostic standards for infectious diseases that do not correspond to the pertinent issues of healthcare. He reiterated that in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Ukraine a country with a high risk of a poliomyelitis outbreak yet the response of a project leader of the Ukrainian office of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) of the US Department of Defense to the WHO regional representative noted that the program implemented in Ukraine did not include the study of poliomyelitis which raises concern which diseases were being studied there.
