Russian diplomat castigates Lithuania’s US-dictated resolution

Maria Zakharova said the instructions the decision is based on do not primarily serve the interests of the citizenry, but are "merely custom-made materials to determine how the roles between NATO countries should be distributed"

MOSCOW, May 12. /TASS/. The resolution adopted by the Lithuanian parliament against Russia alleging that it supports ‘terrorism’ follows the collective West’s anti-Russian instructions and was dictated by Washington, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"The Seimas is an official body. Of course, its opinion is not the country’s sole official position, yet this (resolution - TASS) is certainly a document. It follows certain instructions and was dictated by the collective West’s anti-Russian players led by Washington. There is no doubt about it," the Russian diplomat said during a live broadcast of the Soloviev Live TV channel.

Zakharova said the instructions the decision is based on do not primarily serve the interests of the citizenry, but are "merely custom-made materials to determine how the roles between NATO countries should be distributed." "Poland and the three Baltic states have been zealously working on the US agenda both as NATO and EU members in violation of their own interests," she added. "[They] have simply been and remain now the voices of Washington’s will. [They] have largely become an instrument of the anti-Russian attitudes of some in the US political establishment," the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman concluded.

On Tuesday, Lithuania’s parliament unanimously adopted a resolution saying that Russia has been conducting terrorist activity in Ukraine that should be considered genocide against the Ukrainian people. Lithuanian lawmakers have called on the international community to consider this activity a war crime and a crime against humanity. Lithuania’s politicians have also labeled Russia a terrorist state.
