Special operation to ensure long-term security of Donbass, Crimea, entire Russia — Putin

The forces that have been historically pursuing a policy aimed at containing Russia just don’t need such an independent and large country, the Russian President also noted

ST. PETERSBURG, April 27. /TASS/. All the tasks of the special military operation in Ukraine will definitely be accomplished, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the Council of Legislators on Wednesday.

"All the tasks of the special military operation that we are conducting in Donbass and Ukraine, and which began on February 24, will undoubtedly be implemented in order to safeguard peace and security for residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Russia’s Crimea and our entire country in the historical outlook," the president said.

"We need to clearly realize that our soldiers and officers have prevented a real danger that was looming over our motherland," he said. "With their courage, decisiveness and heroism, they have averted a massive conflict that would have unfolded on our territory, but under someone else’s scenarios."

Putin pointed out that "the forces that have been historically pursuing a policy aimed at containing Russia just don’t need such an independent and large country, even enormously large, in their view."

"They believe that its very existence poses a threat to them though it’s far from being the case, it’s them who pose a threat to the entire world," Putin said.

Putin reminded of "the Nazis’ barbaric plans against the Soviet people - those who are capable of working are to be forced to work, exposed to slave labor and slave-like conditions, those who are unwanted are to be send beyond the Urals, to the north, to extinction."

Putin emphasized that it was spelled out in official documents, and Russia remembers it.
