MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. At least five people have been killed in a stabbing attack at a shopping center in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Saturday, a New South Wales police spokesman told local television.

The Sydney Morning Herald said earlier that up to six people had been killed in what it called a stabbing spree. "Many more" are in a critical condition, a police source told the Australian newspaper.

According to the police spokesman, the attacker has been shot dead.

There is no data about any injured Russian citizens in the attack, the Russian embassy in Australia said.
