MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. A nine-year-old boy from the settlement of Belovskoye, Belgorod Region, shielded his nine-month-old sister with his own body during the Ukrainian shelling; both children sustained injuries and are currently in hospital in medium condition, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel.
"Both children are currently in the traumatology unit. The medics assess the condition of Zhenya, 9, and his nine-month-old sister Angelina as of medium severity. […] I talked to their mother, she stays close at all time. They have a big, happy family with four children. The woman said that, during the attack, Zhenya acted like a true hero and shielded the little sister with his own body," Gladkov said.
The children were injured during the Ukrainian attack on Belovskoye on March 14. According to Gladkov, the boy sustained numerous injuries of foot soft tissues and a brain injury; the girl sustained injuries to the face, hand and also a brain injury. They are currently being held at the regional children’s clinic hospital.
"In order to provide a more efficient treatment, a traumatologist and an intensivist were summoned from the federal center; they will arrive at the hospital tomorrow to aid our medics," Gladkov added.
