MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. An An-2 plane operated by the Strizh Avia airlines, carrying three people, disappeared in Chukotka in Russia’s Far East, an emergencies official told TASS.
"The aircraft flew out from Pevek to Polyarny, but no contact was made with it at the scheduled landing time. There are two crew members and a passenger on board the plane," the official said.
According to him, a Mi-8 helicopter with rescuers on board has departed on a search mission.
Although a last known location has been established for the missing plane, it has not been detected yet, nor any contact has been made with it. Rescuers and volunteers riding all-terrain vehicles have been dispatched, too.
According to the latest reports from the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s local department, the aerial search has been delayed until November 11 amid a snow storm. The ground search on all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles is ongoing.
