Krasnodar regional official reveals four injured in warplane crash still in intensive care

The Krasnodar Region’s Health Ministry said earlier that 19 people had been hospitalized, with fifteen of them taken to the Yeysk Central District Hospital and another four transferred to regional medical facilities

KRASNODAR, October 18. /TASS/. Four people who suffered injuries in the recent jet fighter crash in Yeysk and were airlifted to Krasnodar remain in intensive care, the Krasnodar Region’s Deputy Governor Anna Minkova wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.

"As I wrote before, four of the injured were airlifted to Krasnodar last night. A 17-year-old boy is in stable but critical condition, he is on a ventilator. A five-year-old girl is also in stable, critical condition. A CT scan showed brain swelling and ischemic damage. She was also poisoned by combustion products. The child is on a ventilator, receiving intensive care," Minkova explained.

She added that a 51-year-old patient who had suffered burns to 80% of his body was in highly critical condition with broken limbs and carbon monoxide poisoning. A 73-year-old woman was also critical but stable, and hooked up to a ventilator.

An Su-34 fighter-bomber crashed in a Yeysk residential area on Monday night. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the disaster was caused by an engine fire that erupted during takeoff. Both pilots ejected. But the jet crashed and exploded near a residential high-rise building sending it into flames. The incident killed 13 people and left another 19 injured.
