FSB busts illicit arms smuggling conduit from Ukraine into Crimea

The Federal Security Service apprehended the seller, two intermediaries and two buyers, the statement reads

SIMFEROPOL, May 27. /TASS/. The regional department of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol busted a channel of arms and ammunition delivery from Ukraine, detaining the seller, two intermediaries and two buyers, the FSB’s press office reported on Friday.

"The FSB Department for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol busted an illegal channel of the delivery of combat firearms and ammunition from Ukrainian territory. Upon the sale of an AKS-74U assault rifle and over 300 rounds, it apprehended the seller, two intermediaries and two buyers who are residents of the city of Yevpatoria. Criminal cases have been opened against these individuals," the press office said in a statement.

The criminal cases have been opened on counts of the illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, conveyance or carriage of arms, firearm basic parts and ammunition, the FSB specified.

"All the suspects in the criminal cases have been detained and a set of investigative measures is underway to establish all the circumstances of their unlawful activity," the press office said.
