Security forces in Russia’s Kursk Region on high alert, governor says

On Friday, two helicopters of the Ukrainian armed forces carried out two air strikes in Belgorod that caused a fire at the city’s oil depot

KURSK, April 1. /TASS/. All security forces in the Kursk Region have been switched to high alert over developments in Belgorod, the region’s Governor Roman Starovoyt said on his Telegram channel on Friday.

"Due to the events in Belgorod all the security forces in the Kursk Region have been switched to high alert," he wrote.

The governor noted that following Ukrainian air strikes on Belgorod’s oil depot on Friday, he contacted the neighboring Belgorod Region’s Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov and offered help. Gladkov noted that Belgorod’s authorities together with federal structures were handling the situation.

"We are always ready to share with our neighbors, we have several weeks’ worth of our own fuel supplies. Don’t panic - there is no need to fuel up in advance," Starovoyt added.

On Friday, according to Gladkov, two helicopters of the Ukrainian armed forces carried out two air strikes in Belgorod that caused a fire at the city’s oil depot. The flames engulfed the fuel tanks at the depot. The city’s authorities are evacuating residents from the buildings adjacent to the oil depot. There are no casualties.
