Russia, Equatorial Guinea have significant potential to boost mutual supplies — Putin

The Russian President also pointed out that positive results have been achieved in bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russia and Equatorial Guinea have significant potential to increase mutual supplies of products in demand and implement joint investment projects, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

"I would also like to note that our countries have significant potential both to increase mutual supplies of products in demand and to implement promising investment projects, primarily in the energy and mining sectors," the Russian leader said.

Putin noted that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is currently "lagging somewhat behind." "There has even been a certain decline. We hope that the establishment of an intergovernmental commission will help improve the situation," the president added.

At the same time, Putin said that positive results have been achieved in bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation. "Every year, we allocate federal budget funds to provide scholarships for 75 of your citizens to study at Russian universities. This year, we also held two competitive selection programs for advanced training of Equatorial Guinean civil servants at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and St. Petersburg State University. The group in St. Petersburg completed its training just yesterday. In total, more than 1,000 specialists have been trained in our country over the years," he said.

Putin also noted that a Russian cultural center has been operating in Malabo since 2025.
