Russia-Qatar trade turnover modest in volume, but has increased by 10% — Putin

A set of measures is being implemented to diversify and increase trade turnover, the Russian leader said

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Qatar, modest in absolute terms, has increased by 10%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during talks with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

"A set of measures is being implemented to diversify and increase trade turnover, which remains modest in absolute terms, but is nonetheless growing - it has increased by 10%," Putin said.

Moreover, investment cooperation between the two countries is developing, he added. "The Qatar Investment Authority has stakes in a number of Russian companies, including Rosneft and VTB. Partnerships with the RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund - TASS) are growing, and humanitarian ties are expanding as well," the Russian leader noted, adding that tourism exchanges have increased.
