MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Iran has increased its natural gas production capacity to 300 bln cubic meters (bcm) despite years of sanctions, President of the Islamic Republic Masoud Pezeshkian said at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit.
"Despite years of unilateral sanctions, we have managed, by relying on our own internal capabilities, to increase Iran’s natural gas production capacity to 300 billion cubic meters, while maintaining our position as the world’s third-largest natural gas producer," he stated.
Iran is one of the leading countries in terms of gas consumption, Pezeshkian said, adding that gas accounts for 70% of the nation’s energy mix, and 95% of the Islamic Republic’s population is connected to the national gas network.
