Nearly 1.7 mln vehicles recalled in Russia over past five years — Rosstandart

Head of Rosstandart Anton Shalaev said that this year alone, over 200,000 vehicles of various manufacturers have already been recalled

MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. Nearly 1.7 mln vehicles have been recalled in Russia under recall programs over the past five years, including more than 200,000 this year alone, Head of Rosstandart Anton Shalaev told TASS in an interview ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"Over the past five years, almost 1.7 mln vehicles have been recalled in Russia as part of recall campaigns. This year alone, over 200,000 vehicles of various manufacturers have already been recalled," he said.

According to Shalaev, in general, the number of manufacturers that voluntarily initiate recall campaigns, coordinate them with Rosstandart, implement them at their own expense, and report on the resolution of the issues, exceeds those with whom the regulator must take a more forceful approach.

Inspections of car manufacturers are ongoing. "We are currently inspecting several vehicle brands. Since the inspections are not yet complete, it would be inappropriate to name them," Shalaev added.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will take place on June 18-21. This year, the event will be held under the theme "Shared Values: The Foundation of Growth in a Multipolar World." Thematic zones such as the ‘Territory of Innovations’ and the national brand space ‘Buy Russian!’ will operate at the Forum.

The program includes the SME Forum, the Creative Industries Forum, the Day of the Future International Youth Economic Forum, the Drug Security Forum, and the Roscongress Urban Hub discussion platform. As part of the cultural program, the Petersburg Seasons festival will be held, and the SPIEF Sports Games will take place.

The Roscongress Foundation is the organizer of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. TASS is its information partner.
